Novel protest by Mirugam hero, producer

Director Samy’s Mirugam still continues to be in the news. The film, which ran into a problem with the Animal Welfare Board concerning a 'jallikattu' scene, made it to theatres this Friday after the makers decided to scrap the scene to retain the release date.
According to producer Karthik Jai, the scene was intended to project the hero as a brave man. However, the scrapping of that scene has resulted in the hero being seen as a vile character.
To request the inclusion of the scene, the producer now is adopting a novel approach. On December 25, the producer and the hero Aadhi, dressed only in their loin cloths, will herd bulls from Chennai Central railway station to the Animal Welfare Board in Thiruvanmiyur.
The move also has the approval and backing of the Producers’ Council, says the producer.
Mirugam is directed by Saami of Uyir fame and has debutant Aadhi and Padmapriya in the lead roles.
After the Padmapriya incident and the Censor controversy, it seemed that Mirugam was all set for a smooth sail. However, it looks like there is no stopping Mirugam from being in the limelight.
